Tomorrow, the Municipal House will once again come alive with music, dance, film and guests from around the world. The 63rd Golden Prague International Television Festival begins on Wednesday, 23 September, bringing together television creators, artists, industry professionals and audiences over four inspiring days.
This year’s festival will present 84 competition films from around the world, premieres of new Czech Television documentaries, encounters with their creators and protagonists, live performances and events for the whole family. Until Saturday, the Municipal House will become a place where visitors can not only discover exceptional films about music, dance and theatre, but also meet the people behind them.
On the festival’s opening day, the Videolibrary will give visitors access to all of this year’s competition entries - from music and dance documentaries to recordings of concerts, operas and ballets.
The evening will celebrate two remarkable figures in Czech music. The gala premiere of Štěpán Rak: Guitar Bridges will mark the 80th birthday of the internationally acclaimed guitarist, composer and teacher. It will be followed by Stivín: An Improvised Portrait, capturing musician Jiří Stivín not only as an extraordinary performer, but also as an original personality for whom improvisation is both a creative approach and a way of life.
Television and film professionals from many countries are also arriving in Prague. The opening day will include a plenary meeting of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and a meeting of the International Music + Media Centre (IMZ) Board. Golden Prague will once again become a place for international encounters, professional exchange and new collaborations.
Over the following days, visitors can look forward to film premieres, a programme for children, the Golden Dance Floor with stars of StarDance, the Festival Awards Ceremony and the Closing Opera Gala in the Smetana Hall.
