74 - 20 YEARS WALT DISNEY CONCERT HALL: LA PHIL GALA CELEBRATING FRANK GEHRY

The gala pays tribute to Gehry's iconoclasm ranging from the Walt Disney Concert Hall's historic beginnings to the architect's oceanic inspirations immortalized in the building's steel sails. The first piece ever performed at the hall, the Prelude from Bach’s Partita, is followed by Esa-Pekka Salonen's piece FOG – Gehry’s initials – accompanied by postmodern dancer Lucinda Childs. Gehry's love of jazz is reflected by Herbie Hancock and H.E.R. Debussy's La mer concludes the concert.
