7 - Bedřich Smetana: The Bartered Bride

The Bartered Bride has been staged at the National Theatre in many forms and has never left its permanent repertoire. The twenty-first production was created by film and theatre director Alice Nellis. In her performance, The Bartered Bride this time makes fun not only of the ancient Czech villagers, but also of those who have been trying again and again for generations to find the key to staging this Czech opera – the opera makers themselves.
