Set in the Canton of Fribourg, Switzerland, around the time of the Second World War, the film follows a humble family living through a period of profound cultural and social change. Music is woven into the fabric of their lives as a simple woodworker and his loving wife Hedwige guide their many children into the modern world. Inspired by music and supported by their community, the family flourishes in their Swiss village. Narrated by renowned mezzo-soprano Marie-Claude Chappuis and brought to the screen by cinematographer Nayo Titzin, the film offers an emotional journey from past to present, looking towards the future and the generations to come.
