84 - The Children of Hedwige

When we look at documentation of culture and history overlapping within a period of crisis, we need only look at this humble family from the Canton of Fribourg in Switzerland in the years surrounding the 2nd World War. We see that Music is the cloth that is woven into this cultural society where a simple woodworker and his loving wife Hedwige take their many, many, many children through a journey into modern society. With the inspiration of music and with the help of community, they flourish in their lovely, Swiss village. This narrative by the renowned mezzosoprano Marie-Claude Chappuis is set into a film rendition by the cinematographer Nayo Titzin and gives a remarkable emotion-filled journey from the past into the present with hope for a future that reflects our ancestors, our children, and our grandchildren to be.
