A "missing" work by Philip Glass, the piece was composed for the Australian Dance Theatre and was performed in Adelaide in 1986 and rerecorded in 1886 by the Philip Glass Ensemble. It is based on the story by Edgar Allan Poe, based in the Arctic Circle of Norway. The director, Jan Vardøen, has arranged the piece anew for a full orchestra and filmed the lives of the islanders of Lofoten over a full year to illustrate the drama and majesty of the music and the short story.
