62 - Emerging from the Shadows – The Legacies of Weinberg and Korngold

Mieczyslaw Weinberg and Erich Wolfgang Korngold: two 20th-century composers of profound artistry, whose legacy has been overshadowed in the aftermath of the Holocaust. In the setting of Kaunas, Lithuanian city that counted 37.000 Jewish inhabitants before the Shoah, cellist Kristina Reiko Cooper and Constantine Orbelian, the chief conductor of the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra, rediscover the two composers and record their cello concertos — finally bringing their heritage out of the shadows.
