The Fairy Queen from 1692 is one of the baroque masterpieces. Here, directed by Josette Bushell-Mingo, with witty melodies and composer Henry Purcell's period-typical cross-genre stance, the audience is swept into a love story filled with mischievous games. The text is highlighted in partially spoken scenes. The international orchestra and on-stage ensemble create a playful atmosphere, full of magic –⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠ framed by Drottningholm's unique decor treasure trove and hand-stitched costume splendor.
