41 - FAUST

Presented by Opéra de Lille, Denis Podalydès’ staging of Faust revisits the myth in a popular, tragic and luminous form. Guided by the devil, Faust pursues a chimerical quest, while Marguerite becomes the fixed point in an increasingly uncertain world. Performed in its original 1859 version with spoken dialogue, the production blends theatrical magic with the emotional power of Gounod’s music. It was awarded the Prix Claude-Rostand for Best Regional and European Lyric Co-Production by the French Critics’ Association.
