Giacomo Puccini's opera triptych Il trittico consists of three one-act operas: Gianni Schicchi, Il Tabarro and Suor Angelica. They portray individual fates from a world that seems to hold little hope. Contrary to the usual order, the new production at Salzburg Festival began with Gianni Schicchi, the cheerful part of the trilogy. Asmik Grigorian embodies all female leads in this outstanding production. She combines virtuoso acting and sensitive character study in each of her soprano parts.
