Every opera premiere always raises expectations on the Czech music scene. All the more so if it is a new Czech opera with music by Lenka Nota, a middle-generation Czech composer living in Vienna, and a libretto by the well-known, award-winning documentary filmmaker Olga Sommerová. The chamber opera premiered in June 2022 on the 160th anniversary of the death of Czech writer Božena Němcová as part of the Smetana’s Litomyšl festival, staged by the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen, under the direction of Martin Otava.
