On the occasion of the 100th birthday of the American composer in autumn 2012, the German production company Accentus Music will honour one of the most extraordinary protagonists of 20th century music with a television tribute. The program will be directed by Oscar winner Allan Miller, whom the “New York Times” called "America's foremost filmmaker of documentaries on classical music”, and co-directed by Paul Smaczny. The documentary “Journeys in Sound” pays tribute to the fascinating American avant-garde composer. Shot in America, Germany and Japan, the programme presents rare archival footage and concert excerpts next to a set of short stories featuring Cage associates and contemporary artists, thus delineating playfully different aspects of John Cage.
