35 - Krása: Fragments from the children’s opera Brundibár

The short film Krása focuses on one of the most touching and well-known operas of the 20th century: the children's opera Brundibár. Hans Krása, born in Prague, after being deported to the labour camp Terezín, created a “Terezín version” of his opera, which was performed 55 times by imprisoned children. The main inspiration of director Magdalena Švecová was “music as an element that cannot be silenced, that lives on through changing times, and survives any regime. Several generations will sound the instruments, and echoes from the past will find resonance in the present.“
