Presented at the opening of the 2025 season at Opéra de Lille, Edison Denisov’s L’Écume des jours tells the love story of Colin and Chloé, soon overshadowed by illness. Based on Boris Vian’s celebrated novel, the opera blends surreal poetry, jazz and dreamlike lightness with the tragedy of loss. Director Anna Smolar places Chloé at the centre of the narrative, setting the production in a 1970s-inspired aesthetic, with Bassem Akiki as musical director.
