French director Mariame Clément is presenting what is probably the most famous fragment in opera literature at the Salzburg Festival 2024. After countless operettas and comic operas, Les Contes d'Hoffmann is to remain Jacques Offenbach's last attempt to prove all those wrong, who saw in him nothing more than an operetta composer. Marc Minkowski conducts the Vienna Philharmonic, bringing the humor, tragedy and sensitivity of this composition to life.
