33 - Lucia from Jukkasjärvi

Lucia with her handmaidens, stable boys and childrens’ choir sing our most classic Lucia songs from the Hembygdsgård (local community center) in Jukkasjärvi. The annual candlelit Lucia procession on December 13 is a much-loved Swedish tradition, with girls and boys clad in white full-length gowns singing traditional songs. During the pandemic the popular processions in churches, squares and schools were cancelled. In this year SVT produced a very special celebration of the Lucia tradition.
