The new production of Macbeth for the Salzburg Festival fulfils a long-cherished wish of conductor Franz Welser-Möst to bring Verdi's early opera to the big festival stage together with soprano Asmik Grigorian. Polish director Krzysztof Warlikowski takes on the bloody story of a tragic ruling couple. Vladislav Sulimsky takes on the role of General Macbeth, Asmik Grigorian makes her debut as Lady Macbeth and Jonathan Tetelman can be seen as the Scottish nobleman Macduff.
