63 - An opera for an empire

Based on the memories of Charles Garnier, this docu-drama tells the story of the building of this famous Paris, opera house which lasted 14 years (1861 to 1875). Unusual monument by its technical and artistic ambitions and symbol par excellence of the nineteenth century, it is above all the showcase of an era – the second Empire (1852 to 1870) – eighteen flamboyant years that have made Paris the capital of parties, arts and modernity.
