In 2019 Bregenz Festival staged for the first time Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece Rigoletto – compelling, blood-curdling and beautiful. The opera is performed on a striking set created by Philipp Stölzl and Heike Vollmer – a huge jester's head juts out of Lake Constance – moving between spine-tingling spectacle and intimate chamber drama.
