Romeo and Juliet has been, along the centuries, an inspiration for numerous artists. Charles Gounod wrote this opera in five acts. It’s musical and dramaturgical depth is captured by the conductor and stage director throughout the rehearsals on their careful work with the singers, choir and orchestra. Based on interviews with the conductor, the stage director, the singers, the costume and stage designers, this documentary explores what is written between the lines, and notes, of Gounod’s opera.
