Richard Strauss’s masterpiece Salome finally returned to Salzburg after 25 years. Strauss took this stage play to sublime heights through his own unique musical language and rich tonality unlike anything the world had heard before. The Felsenreitschule as the venue for this event gives added power to the opera. “Salome” is being produced by Italian director Romeo Castellucci and Franz Welser-Möst was conducting.
