Between 1932 and 1939, the Russian composer Serge Rachmaninoff lived in a Villa on lake Lucerne: Villa Senar. Rachmaninoff usually holidayed in Switzerland where he could wholeheartedly devote himself to composing his music. In Hertenstein he relived his childhood memories in Russia – in harmony with nature. There he found the peace and quiet he needed to compose Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and Symphony n° 3. The documentary provides essential insight into the composer’s life.
