The Konzerthausorchester Berlin performs Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, one of the most emotive and influential sacred works of the Baroque era under the direction of Andrea Marcon. A special light dramaturgy in the Great Hall subtly underscores the drama of the plot of Stabat Mater: in his farewell work, the music theatre composer Pergolesi, who died at age 26, musically imbued the universal emotions of Mary mourning for her son under the cross with an intense, almost operatic power.
