When a psychiatric nurse struggling with her own demons encounters a former schoolmate as a patient, she begins to question notions of sanity and the treatment of those who are deemed insane. This dramatic interpretation of a contemporary chamber opera is inspired by events in the life of New Zealand writer Janet Frame. It was filmed on location in a former psychiatric hospital for New Zealand Opera.
