27 - THEODORA

In Antioch, the new Roman governor, Valens, decrees that everyone must make a sacrifice to the god Jupiter on the emperor’s birthday. Refusal means death. Didymus asks for Christians to be exempt, as it goes against scripture. Theodora, a Christian, is ready to die for her faith, but is sentenced to prostitution. Didymus is determined to rescue her. He confesses his conversion to Christianity and his love for Theodora. Helping her escape prison costs them both dearly.
