30 - World Tour to Survival - Richard Tauber 1938

In 1933, the half-Jewish star tenor Richard Tauber was hounded off the stage by the Nazis in Berlin and fled to his homeland of Austria. By a stroke of luck, when the German army invaded in 1938, Tauber had just begun his concert tour in Italy. He escaped persecution by chance – but lost his fortune and his homeland. Using previously unseen private footage of Tauber’s tour, this film depicts the world of the rich and beautiful, at a time when the Nazis were extending their dominion over Europe.
