Emil Viklický – Made in Jazz

Golden Prague

A jazz portrait of Emil Viklický - the "patriarch of Czech jazz piano" and composer who has successfully performed and recorded in the USA, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Israel, and throughout Europe with various prestigious artists and ensembles. Viklický's work draws its primary inspiration from Moravian folk music, and this unique fusion has earned him recognition from international record labels. Renowned London critic Chris Parker dubbed him "The Janáček of Jazz", a title that has stayed with him to this day. Through his synthetic approach, Viklický has long transcended the conventional boundaries of jazz. He dedicates a considerable portion of his compositional energy to creating both classical and film music. This fall will mark the beginning of a series of performances celebrating his 75th birthday.

The screening will be in Czech.
