Jaroslav Krček and Musica Bohemica: The Soul Does Not Age

GP

This documentary portrait presents composer, conductor, and choirmaster Jaroslav Krček as a distinctive figure of Czech musical culture. In 2024, he celebrated a significant milestone, his 85th birthday, yet he remains active to this day. He continues to serve as the artistic director of the ensemble Musica Bohemica, as well as an active conductor and director in the field of classical music.

Through his lifelong work with Musica Bohemica, we follow a unique fusion of classical music and folk tradition, which has become a defining feature of his artistic output.

The film moves fluidly through Krček’s artistic journey, from his beginnings in radio, through collaborations with leading musicians, to the creation of a distinctive musical language inspired by folklore and early sacred music. It is not only a reflection on an exceptional career, but above all a sensitive portrait of a man for whom music is a lifelong mission and a way of bringing harmony, joy, and deeper emotional experience.

The screening will be in Czech.
