The Love for Three Oranges - Partnership performance of the Golden Prague Festival

Láska ke třem pomerančům

The Love for Three Oranges by Sergei Prokofiev is a fairy tale merging elements of surrealism and commedia dell'arte. For a director, this means an opportunity to develop its briefly sketched plot about an enchanted prince in a manner provoking the imagination of the spectators. In the National Theatre, this task was entrusted to Radim Vizváry, who - being an elite mime and performer - has an exceptional feel not only for theatrical space but also for abstract and fairy tale meanings. Ant that it exactly what the Love for Three Oranges is made of. The dream-like atmosphere of the performance is supported by acrobats, masks and moody light design. The final result is underlined by excellent performance by the orchestra, choir and soloists of the Opera of the National Theatre conducted by the British maestro Christopher Ward.
