The project Smetana200 is an open concept, encompassing events of all kinds, whose aim is to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Bedřich Smetana's birth in 2024. Smetana200 encourages and coordinates cooperation among organizers across the cultural sphere, from prestigious musical events to the support of leisure activities and educational programmes. The mission of the project is to celebrate Czech culture and musicianship.
The most interesting events taking place next year will be presented at the Golden Prague Festival by Aleš Březina, the creative director of the Smetana 200 project, a music composer, musicologist, and director of the Bohuslav Martinů Institute. The event will be moderated by Marek Šulc, the coordinator of the Smetana 200 project.
The project Smetana 200 has been supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, and the Czech Philharmonic was entrusted with coordinating the project.
