A documentary film marking the 80th birthday of guitar virtuoso, composer, and educator Štěpán Rak. The film follows his life journey from childhood through the peak periods of his creative work to his reconciliation with his own origins. It combines testimonies by Štěpán Rak and his son Jan Matěj Rak with archival footage, photographs, and musical excerpts. The protagonist’s own music forms an integral part of the film.
Štěpán Rak is one of the foremost guitarists of today and is internationally acclaimed. He became the first university professor of guitar in the Czech Republic. He is known for his innovative playing technique using all five fingers of the right hand (the so-called “Rak tremolo”) and is also the author of a unique therapeutic project called “guitar therapy.”
