Submitting a film to an international festival is the moment your work enters an international professional environment - where it can be discovered by broadcasters, producers, curators and audiences from around the world. At the Golden Prague International Television Festival, every submitted film becomes part of a carefully structured and internationally respected selection process. Here is what happens after you submit your film to Golden Prague.
YOUR FILM BECOMES PART OF THE OFFICIAL COMPETITION
All films that meet the festival conditions and complete the registration process are automatically included in the official competition. Every registered film is viewed and evaluated by the festival’s five-member international jury, composed of respected professionals from television, film, music and the performing arts.
TWO ROUNDS OF JURY EVALUATION
The evaluation process takes place in two stages:
FIRST ROUND - ONLINE VIEWING DURING THE SUMMER
Throughout the summer months, members of the international jury watch the submitted films remotely from their home countries. This allows them to carefully review all entries in advance and prepare a shortlist of nominated works.
SECOND ROUND - FINAL DELIBERATIONS IN PRAGUE
Several days before the festival begins, the jurors arrive in Prague for the final stage of the evaluation process. During in-person discussions held throughout the festival week, they review the nominated films together and decide on the festival awards.
Films selected for the second round compete for the main jury prizes. However, films that are not nominated for the final round may still receive one of the festival’s special awards presented independently of the international jury, including the Czech Television Award or the Dagmar and Václav Havel VIZE 97 Award.
FESTIVAL AWARDS CEREMONY
The Official Awards Ceremony takes place on Thursday, 24 September 2026.
A total of eight festival prizes are awarded, including the festival’s highest distinction - the Grand Prix Golden Prague, accompanied by a financial award of EUR 10,000.
Creators of awarded films are personally invited to Prague to attend the ceremony and receive their awards in front of the international festival audience.
SCREENING AND FESTIVAL VIDEO LIBRARY
The festival takes place from 23 to 26 September 2026. During the entire event, submitted films are available in the festival video library.
Visitors, accredited professionals and international guests can watch the films individually at dedicated viewing stations located within the festival venue. For filmmakers, this creates a valuable opportunity to present their work to producers, broadcasters, distributors and other industry professionals from around the world.
Selected films are also made available online through the festival platform, extending their visibility beyond the physical festival environment.
AN INTERNATIONAL INDUSTRY MEETING POINT
Golden Prague is not only a competition festival, but also an important international meeting place for professionals working in television, documentary filmmaking, music and the performing arts.
Every year, Prague welcomes producers, directors, broadcasters, distributors and representatives of cultural institutions from many countries. Alongside screenings, the festival offers an industry programme featuring professional discussions, networking opportunities and informal meetings.
For many filmmakers, participation in Golden Prague becomes an opportunity to establish new international collaborations and introduce their work to a specialised global audience.
BEFORE YOU SUBMIT
We strongly recommend that all applicants read the official Festival Statute carefully before submitting their films. The statute contains detailed information about eligibility, categories, technical requirements and the evaluation process.
We look forward to discovering new films and welcoming filmmakers from around the world to Prague.
